Dial-Up Internet Access
Pay Monthly or As You Go
Although broadband is becoming ever more popular, large numbers of people
still choose a dial-up account to access the internet. Dial-up is especially
popular with infrequent or light-use surfers where the cost of broadband
outweighs the benefit. Dial-up is still used by those users who do not yet
have access to broadband.
A number of providers offer pay monthly dial-up packages, many of them
applying a restriction to either the times of use or the number of online
hours. Typically, if you use your dial-up account outside the terms of the
package then you'll be charged an additional per minute fee.
Pay Per Minute
An expanding number of providers simply charge per minute for your internet
access - there are no monthly fees or charges other than the per minute call
charge. Off peak charges can be as low as 1p/minute. The charges are applied
to your phone bill so you do not need to give details of a charge card or
credit card.
