Mint Card
The Mint Credit Card
How does it compare?
Did you know that Mint Credit Card is a new replacement brand name for RBS Advanta? The Mint card comes with the offer of 0% rates on purchases and balance transfers of about 8 months (depending upon when you apply). The balance transfer period is shorter than those of say MBNA or Virgin Card though the introductory period for new purchases is longer than both of these. Note that you cannot transfer a balance to a Mint Card from another RBS card
A unique marketing ploy of the Mint Card is that you can choose a card that has a rounded corner - the mc2 card pictured above. Whilst it obviously looks different and Mint hope that you find it appealing they do say that this card may be rejected by some ticket vending machines.
There's online account management and you can setup alerts that can be via email or text messaage to your mobile. You can also do balance enquiries and see your five most recent transactions via your mobile (message fee applies).
The Mint Credit Card is available as both a Visa card and as a Mastercard providing you earn at least £10,000 pa and offers a maximum £7500 credit limit. If you in need of a higher credit limit you could consider a platinum credit card
